Royalties and payments
How artists earn through Rythora, what percentage you keep, how streams are calculated, and when payouts happen.

How do artists make money through Rythora?
Artists earn when their music generates eligible revenue through:
- Third-party digital service providers (DSPs) such as Spotify, Apple Music, and other stores in your delivery footprint
- Rythora-owned music services, including Rythora Listen and qualifying music playback in Rythora Kids
Rythora receives royalty reports (or first-party accounting for Listen / Kids music), attributes earnings to the correct artists and releases, and shows them in your Workstation account.
Publishing / PRO songwriting royalties, Kids video (audiovisual) monetization, and gift earnings are separate ledgers from master recording royalties.
What percentage of royalties do artists keep?
Rythora-owned music services (Listen and qualifying Kids music)
Subject to the Distribution Agreement you accept:
- The applicable master rights holder receives 100% of the master recording royalty attributable to that recording
- Rythora’s commission on that master royalty is 0%
That 100% applies to the master recording royalty after taxes, refunds, chargebacks, payment processing where applicable, publishing/composition obligations, and other legally required third-party amounts. It is not a promise of “100% of every dollar a listener spends.”
Rythora’s primary compensation for distribution tools is Workstation plan fees and optional paid services, not a take of first-party master royalties.
External DSP partner statements
Partner reports from Spotify, Apple Music, and similar stores follow those partners’ reporting and may include distribution economics distinct from first-party Listen / Kids music royalties. Review your statements in Accounting and your accepted Distribution Agreement for the terms that apply to those reports.
How are streams calculated?
There is no single universal dollar rate per stream.
Each platform calculates royalties using factors such as:
- Listener location
- Subscription vs advertising-supported listening
- Platform revenue for the period
- How that revenue is allocated across tracks
- Applicable licensing arrangements
On most major stores, a stream typically must meet a minimum play length (often about 30 seconds) to count. Exact rules are set by each DSP.
When do artists receive payments?
Think of payout as three stages:
- DSP / partner reporting — For third-party stores, partners typically report roughly 60–90 days after the activity month ends.
- Available balance in Rythora — Reported earnings appear in Accounting / Earnings once processed. Amounts may be delayed, withheld, offset, or reversed for incomplete onboarding, chargebacks, takedowns, fraud, rights disputes, or legal process.
- Withdrawal via Airwallex — When your payable balance is above the $25 threshold and your tax form plus bank payout (beneficiary) setup are complete, you can request a withdrawal from Earnings. Payouts are processed through Airwallex to the bank details you confirmed.
Complete tax setup under Distribution setup and bank payout setup under Earnings before your first withdrawal.
